Plug the USB cable connected to the Xbox USB controller into a USB port on the Xbox. Plug the USB thumb drive into the USB socket on the controller. Turn the Xbox on.
Select "OK" from the "Format" screen that automatically appears. Click the "X" button on the controller to format the USB thumb drive. Turn the Xbox off when the formatting is done. Disconnect the controller from the Xbox.
Pull the USB thumb drive out of the controller. Plug the USB thumb drive into a USB port on the computer. Select "No" from the window that appears on the screen. Let the window disappear before continuing.
Download the Xplorer360 Xbox program (see Resources) to the desktop. Double-click the file to decompress it to a program on the desktop. Double-click the program to launch it. Select "Drive" from the top of the program's main screen. Select the USB thumb drive from the drop-down menu.
Download the Xbox modification program to the desktop -- for example, the Ndure program (see Resources). Double-click the file to decompress it to a folder on the desktop. Double-click the folder to open its window.
Double-click each of the two folders inside the window to open them. Drag the file that is inside each of the folders into the Xplorer360's window. Let the "Copy" window appear and disappear. Quit the program. Shut down the computer. Remove the USB thumb drive from the USB port.
Plug the USB thumb drive into the Xbox's USB port. Turn the Xbox on. Insert the Splinter Cell video game into the Xbox. Select "Game Save" from the on-screen menu when it appears on the screen.
Select the icon of the USB thumb drive. Click the "X" button. Let the files modify the Xbox for as long as needed. Eject the video game once the modification has been completed. Turn off the Xbox. Remove the USB thumb drive.
