How to Hook an Xbox 360 to a Dell ST2010B With an HDMI Cable

The Dell ST-2010B is a 2009 Studio Series PC monitor. Like many monitors in its size range, the unit can be used to display a multitude of input devices besides a computer. The Microsoft Xbox 360 is a prime example of one of these devices. Capable of outputting resolutions at or near the PC resolutions, the console is a nice match for the 2010B.

Instructions

    • 1

Access the back panel of the Xbox 360. Locate the "HDMI" port located on the lower right hand side of the console.

    • 2

Plug an HDMI cable straight into the port, with the longer flat side of the connector facing up.

    • 3

Locate the "HDMI" input port, located underneath the left side of the Dell ST-2010B monitor as it faces you. Plug the other end of the cable into this port.

    • 4

Turn the monitor and console on. Allow the console to auto-detect the ideal resolution of the monitor, which it will do by default. The monitor will adjust its resolution in accordance with HDMI's extended display identification data (EDID) protocol.
