How to Calibrate Instruments for the Xbox 360

Playing a poorly calibrated "Rock Band" game is frustrating. Hitting the notes at the right time seems nearly impossible, and they don't match the rhythm of the music. Furthermore, the vocals don't match those heard from the game soundtrack, and achievements are nearly impossible to earn. If you find yourself missing notes you believe you hit, recalibrate the audio and video setting. The Xbox 360 may have signal lag because of differences in types of TVs. Calibration is easy with the auto calibration feature of "Rock Band" guitar controllers.

Instructions

    • 1

Scroll down to "Options" in the game's main menu, then select "Calibration settings." Select menu items by pressing the green fret button on the guitar controller.

    • 2

Depress the green fret to start audio calibration. Hold the guitar controller up to one of the speakers with the transparent circle near the "Start" button facing the speaker.

    • 3

Hold the guitar controller in place until the calibration progress bar on the screen fills and the game screen tells you to calibrate video lag.

    • 4

Hold the guitar controller a few inches from the screen and press the green button. The screen will flash while video lag calibrates. The progress bar will fill as calibration occurs.

    • 5

Press the green fret button after video calibration to return to the main game menu.
