Things You'll Need
Instructions
Remove the DVD drive from the Xbox.
Rotate the faceplate from the top so it unsnaps and comes off.
Remove the gray pieces from the top and bottom. Each has six clips which can be removed with a thin screwdriver.
Insert the case removal tool in the slots along the vertical center of the back of your Xbox. Pull the case apart slightly as you release each clip to make sure it does not re-engage. There are seven clips -- five on the right above the sound and video out and two on the left above the power plug.
Loosen the four remaining clips on the front of the case and lift the two sides of the case apart.
Turn the Xbox upside down and remove the six large screws using the screwdriver.
Remove the eject button from the front of the case, then remove the white plastic case. You should now be able to see the inside of the Xbox. Unplug the SATA cable going to the DVD drive and then remove the DVD drive by gently pulling it upward.
Flash the DVD drive
Download the Jungle Flasher tool to your desktop PC. Also download the Jungle Flasher PDF tutorial.
Plug the SATA cable from the desktop PC into the drive from the Xbox. Open JungleFlasher.exe and the PDF of the tutorial. Follow the step-by-step flow chart within the PDF tutorial. The procedures vary depending on the model of your drive and the firmware it is running.
Watch for the phrase "Write Verified OK" in the log at the bottom of the Jungle Flasher window. Once you have this, power off the PC, disconnect the drive and prepare to connect it back to your console.
Replace the Drive into the Console
Slide the drive back into the console and reconnect the SATA cable from the console to the DVD drive.
Slide the top cover back on to the Xbox and replace the Eject button.
Turn the Xbox upside-down and replace the six screws holding the top in place.
Pop the bottom cover into place and snap the four clips on the front and seven clips on the back into place. Snap the two, gray ends back into place by pushing them into their slots until all the six clips on each end connect.
Snap the front plate back into place, put a DVD in the drive and turn on the Xbox.
