Things You'll Need
Instructions
Use simple symbols at the beginning and end of your name as a graphical addition. Names like "IIXboxGamerII," for example, make the appearance of your gamertag different than just using normal text. Keep these special characters minimal and simple.
Keep your name simple overall. Remember that complex names filled with uppercase and lowercase letters with random numbers just look cluttered. A gamertag that's short, concise and well-considered will stand out in other players' memories, potentially leading to more positive recognition and friend requests. Replacing a letter with a number (such as using an "8" in lieu of a "B") is widely used, reducing its uniqueness.
Don't use your gamertag as a method of boasting. "PerfectSniper" or other bragging-oriented titles usually lead to other players focusing in on you as a target. Use your name so that it becomes part of an in-game notification. Names always stick in people's memories when presented within a message such as "you were killed by A Large Anvil" for example.
Refrain from using numbers or other icons to bypass Xbox Live's terms of service. Names with racial, homophobic or otherwise offensive orientations may lead to a suspension of your Live account. At minimum, you will be forced to change your gamertag if enough people report you to the service.
