"Mass Effect 2" follows the continuing adventures of Commander Shepard, humanity's one great hope against a coming invasion of giant mechanical aliens with genocide on their minds. "Mass Effect 2" is also far more streamlined than its predecessor, and has cut much of the busywork such as buying and selling weapons out of the process. This, of course, can make it difficult to figure out just how you're supposed to get the cash you need to purchase those things still available in the shops. Money is made exclusively through pick-ups in missions.

Play through the "Mass Effect 2" missions. Keep an eye peeled for datapads, safes or other searchable items as you go.

Approach the searchable item when you locate it. Press the "Use" button when you are close enough.

Defeat the mini-game. It will either be a hacking mini-game where you must match the correct lines of code, or a bypass mini-game where you have to match up the identical symbols on the circuit board, then collect your money.
