How to Surrender in Red Dead Redemption

"Red Dead Redemption" features an honor system which gives players the opportunity to act as a force for good, as a dastardly outlaw or somewhere in between. If you commit any number of crimes while playing the game, from killing innocent people to cheating at poker, you will have a bounty put on your head and lawmen and bounty hunters alike will attack you. However, you also have the option to surrender to the authorities and pay for your crimes by serving a jail sentence, instead of being killed on the spot.

Instructions

    • 1

Commit any crime to get a posse or lawman after your. The more severe the crime, the bigger the posse will be and the more difficult it will be to surrender.

    • 2

Release the left trigger button on your controller to lower your weapon. If you are on a horse or carriage you must first press the dismount button to get down as you cannot surrender while riding any vehicle.

    • 3

Stand completely still with no weapons drawn. After a few seconds your character will slowly start to raise his arms in the air, signaling his surrender.

    • 4

Watch the cutscene of your character in jail to serve his time. After the cutscene you are released with a cleared wanted level.
