My Xbox Doesn't Detect TVersity for XP

TVersity is a media server application that allows you share photos, music and videos with any UPnP or DLNA device, such as the Xbox 360. The TVersity application streams your files over your local Internet connection to the external device. In certain cases, your Xbox may not detect TVersity, which can be cause by several problems. You can troubleshoot these issues to fully enable TVersity to be recognized by your Xbox.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect your Xbox to the same Internet connection as your computer. The TVersity will work only if both devices are sharing an Internet connection.

    • 2

Run TVersity on your computer. The TVersity application must be open and running on your computer for it to be recognized by your Xbox. Right-click on the TVersity icon in the System Tray in Windows and select "Start Sharing," or click the "Start" menu, select "All Programs," select "TVersity," select "TVersity Tools" and select "Start TVersity Media Server" to open TVersity on your computer.

    • 3

Allow TVersity to run through Windows Firewall. Windows Firewall may be blocking TVersity from connecting to the Internet, but you can allow it through the firewall menu. Click "Start" and select "Control Panel." Click on "Security" and select "Windows Firewall." Click "Allow a program through Windows Firewall" from the left window pane and select TVersity as the program you wish to allow.

    • 4

Stop sharing with other media servers. If you have previously enabled sharing with another media server such as Windows Media Player 11 or Zune, disable that program's sharing function to allow TVersity to be your only sharing application. Refer to the user manual that came with your other media server application for instructions on how to disable it.
