How to Get Your XBox Gamertag Onto Your Desktop

You can move your Xbox 360 Gamertag to different storage locations connected to your game console. If you have a 1 GB or larger flash drive, you can connect it to your Xbox 360 and transfer your Gamertag to it. Once the Gamertag is on your flash drive, you can transfer it to your desktop computer. Though you can't edit or modify it on your desktop, you can store it there for safekeeping.

1 GB or larger flash drive

  Insert your flash drive into a free USB port on your Xbox 360 console and then turn on the console and a controller.

  Navigate to the "My Xbox" menu, go to "System Settings," then choose the "Memory" option.

  Select "Hard Drive" and choose the "Gamer Profiles" category.

  Select your Xbox 360 Gamertag and follow the prompts to move it to your flash drive.

  Disconnect the flash drive from your Xbox 360 and insert it into a USB port on your desktop computer. Open the flash drive folder and click and drag the Gamertag to your desktop, or to a folder on the desktop.
