How to Catch a Jaguar in Red Dead Redemption

John Marston, the protagonist of "Red Dead Redemption," is a true man of the West with a number of survival skills at his disposal, such as hunting. During the game, players have the chance to complete a number of hunting challenges for an optional side quest. Completing each of the challenges not only gives the player bragging rights, it also unlocks rare items and abilities. One of the hunting missions involves tracking down Khan, a legendary animal and the only jaguar in the game.

Instructions

  Complete the eight hunting missions prior to this one to unlock your chance at encountering Khan. Refer to your satchel menu to find out what your current hunting mission entails. All hunting missions prior to the hunt for Khan involve killing and skinning a certain number of animals commonly found in the three territories of the game.

  Travel to Ojo del Diablo in Nuevo Paraiso using the fast travel option.

  Search around the west side of Ojo del Diablo for the jaguar. The jaguar commonly appears during the day and evening, so if it is night, rest until the next day to continue the hunt. The longer you spend time in Ojo del Diablo, the greater your chances of encountering Khan. If you are having difficulties, use bait from your satchel menu or kill other animals in the area to attract Khan.

  Draw your weapon when Khan appears. The jaguar will show up as a red blip on your radar and you will also receive a message that Khan, the jaguar, has appeared. Make sure you have a strong weapon equipped, such as a bolt action rifle.

  Shoot the jaguar several times to kill it. Walk over to the body and press the corresponding button when prompted to on the screen to skin the jaguar and complete the hunting challenge.
