How to Pick Up People on Red Dead Redemption

"Red Dead Redemption" is a wild-west shooter that evokes the feeling of an old Western movie. During the tutorial stages of the game, you are given a lasso that can be used to capture and break in wild horses. The lasso also has a secondary feature that allows you to hogtie your enemies. Once hogtied, you are free to pick up the person and carry him over your shoulder or strap him to the back of your horse. This allows you to capture bounties and reap a greater reward.

Instructions

  Open the weapon menu and equip your lasso.

  Press and hold the left trigger to swing the lasso. Use the control stick to aim the lasso towards the person you want to pick up. You must keep the left trigger held down the entire time you use the lasso, until you have successfully hogtied the person.

  Press the right trigger to throw the lasso towards the person you want to pick up. If you miss, close the gap between you and the person and try again.

  Walk towards the person you have lassoed while still keeping the left trigger held down. Once you are close enough, the hogtie option will appear on the screen. Press the corresponding button to hogtie the person, who will now be lying on the ground tied up in rope.

  Stand next to the person until the carry option appears on the screen. Press the corresponding button to pick up the person and carry him slung over your shoulder.
