How to Get a 360 Dev Kit

The current crop of home video game consoles represents a great leap forward in accessibility for developers. Nearly anyone can download software and create their own programs for the Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii or Microsoft Xbox 360. Creating games playable on your Xbox 360 only requires the developer's kit (here, called the XNA Game Studio), an Xbox Live Silver Membership and an XNA Creators Club Premium Membership.

     Navigate your Web browser to the dev kit installation page (see Resources). Download the XNA Game Studio 4.

     Open the self-extracting executable (.EXE) file after it has finished downloading.

     Follow the instructions that the XNA Game Studio prompts you with. This will complete the installation of the XNA Game Studio, the Xbox 360 Developer Kit.
