How to Mod Firmware on a 360

The Xbox 360 is periodically updated by Microsoft with software and firmware upgrades. Depending on how long ago your Xbox was connected to the Internet, there might be updates available for it. If it has been awhile since it got updates and you are having problems with your Xbox, firmware modifications are probably available. Once the console firmware has been modified, the problems should stop.

  Insert an Ethernet cable from your networking router into the back of your Xbox 360 console. If your Xbox 360 console has a wireless adapter you can skip this step.

  Turn on your Xbox 360 and go to the "My Xbox" menu.

  Choose "System Settings" from the My Xbox menu and click on "Network Settings."

  Follow the prompts to connect to your wireless network (if applicable), then choose "Test Xbox LIVE Connection."

  Click "Yes" when prompted to install the firmware and/or software modifications to your Xbox 360.
