"Viva Piñata" Acquisition
In the original "Viva Piñata," Ponocky is an easily acquired piñata. All you have to do is reach Gardener Level 20. The creature is then available for purchase for 2,310 chocolate coins at Miss Petunia's Paper Pets shop in the village. Ponocky also costs an additional 1,155 coins to house. One tactic for getting coins quickly is to purchase Bird of Paradise seeds. Plant them and use multicolor fertilizer three times on each seed. Once they've grown, the plants are worth 1,440 chocolate coins each.
"Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise" Acquisition
In the sequel "Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise," Ponocky can no longer be purchased and must be attracted into the garden. Your garden must have at least 10 percent grass, include at least 10 carrots and have at least 10 flowers to attract Ponocky. Carrot and flower seeds can both be purchased very cheaply from the General Store. Since the type of flower isn't important, it can be cost-efficient to purchase Buttercup seeds, the cheapest flower available. Be careful once the carrots are planted, as other piñatas may eat them. If there are less than 10 carrots, Ponocky won't appear.
Residency Requirements
Once the Ponocky has been attracted into the garden in "Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise," a different set of requirements is necessary to get the piñata to establish residency. Your garden must be at least 20 percent grass, and Ponocky must eat at least five carrots. When you're planting carrot seeds, use three applications of orange fertilizer for the best growth. This will make them more appealing to Ponocky.
General Tips
Having the attraction requirements fulfilled doesn't mean that Ponocky will immediately appear in the garden. Be patient and don't get frustrated if the creature takes a while to show up. Additionally, Ponocky doesn't get along with other equine creatures (such as Horstachio and Zumbug), so it may be best to keep them separated.
