How to Configure Port Forwarding for Call of Duty

To fully appreciate the multiplayer mode in "Call of Duty: Black Ops," port forwarding must be configured in the network gateway (or router). When port forwarding is configured, all the traffic for "Call of Duty: Black Ops" is sent directly to and from your game console or PC. If it takes a long time to find a multiplayer match or if it doesn't connect, configuring port forwarding typically fixes the problem.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to the configuration utility for your network gateway or router (whichever is applicable to your setup). Go to the "Port Forwarding" section in the navigation pane.

    • 2

Select the "Port Forwarding" option, then click the "Add Custom Service," or similarly named, button below.

    • 3

Type "Call of Duty: Black Ops" in the "Service Name" field and then select "TCP/UDP" from the "Service Type" drop-down menu.

    • 4

Type "3074" in the "Starting Port" and "Ending Port" field, then type the IP address of your console or PC in the "Server IP Address" field.

    • 5

Click "Apply," then repeat steps 2 through 4, four more times. Instead of putting "3074" in the "Starting Port" and "Ending Port" fields each of the four times, use the numbers "3478," "4380," "27000" and "27050," respectively.
