Using Memory Device
Plug a USB flash drive into one of the Xbox 360's USB ports, or insert an Xbox 360 Memory Unit into one of the two ports on the front of the console. The USB device must be configured so it is compatible with the Xbox 360.
Turn your console on and scroll up to the "My Xbox" tab on your dashboard. Scroll to the right until you come to the "System Settings" option.
Click the "Memory" option, and then the "All Devices" option.
Click the "Gamer Profiles" option and select the gamertag you want to transfer. Select the "Move" option to transfer the gamertag to either the USB storage device or Xbox 360 Memory Unit.
Remove the device and plug it into another console. You can retrieve the gamertag from the "Sign In" option on the "My Xbox" tab. Start a game of "Borderlands" and select the multiplayer option to play split-screen.
Via Xbox Live
Press the "Guide" button on your Xbox 360 controller to open the Guide Window. You need an Xbox Live account to download a gamertag online.
Scroll down and select the "Recover Gamertag" option. Select "Recover Gamertag" again.
Type in the Windows Live ID and password you used to set up the gamertag, then follow the on-screen instructions. Start a game of "Borderlands" and select the multiplayer option to play split-screen.
