How to Play Forge on Halo

The Forge mode, first seen in "Halo 3," is an amazing creative tool for players to build unique experiences with custom maps. In "Halo Reach" the Forge mode was given an overhaul with more options and features. What can be done in Forge and how it is used is only limited by the player's imagination. The amazing things built from the Forge toolset include expansive maps, intuitive weapon placement in existing levels and detailed sculpture art. Just like any match of "Halo," Forge is more fun with friends.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a level to use with Forge and sign in or invite all of the players to the Forge lobby. Select the "Start Game" option to begin a game of Forge.

    • 2

Press "Up" on the directional pad while in a game of Forge to change from your Spartan or Elite character into the Forge Editor tool. The Forge Editor has the ability to freely fly around the stage while picking up, adding or removing weapons, vehicles and objects. Only one player can be the Forge Editor at a time.

    • 3

Scroll through the options as the Forge Editor, such as Vehicles and Weapons, and press the "A" button to drop the item into the level. The green cursor represents where the item will be placed.

    • 4

Pause the game once you have set up the items according to your preferences and select the "Save as New Map" option to keep a record of your work as a playable map. Select the "End Game" option to return to the main menu.
