In Fallout 3, How Do You Do the Riley's Ranger Quest?

In "Fallout 3," players take control of a custom-made character that is searching the Capital Wastelands in search of a missing father. Along the way, players have the option to take on additional quests that deviate from the main storyline. The "Reilly's Rangers" quest is completely optional, however completing the quest will earn the player 300 experience points, their choice of Ranger Battle Armor or Eugene Minigun and all of the items, weapons and money that they can collect during the mission itself.

Instructions

  Travel to the Chop Shop located in the Underworld. The entrance to the Underworld is located near the Museum of History in the Washington Monument area.

  Locate Reilly on a cot in the Chop Shop. If your medicine skill is high enough, wake up Reilly yourself. If not, talk to Doctor Burroughs and pass a speech check to ask him to wake her up.

  Talk to Reilly and agree to the mission. After your conversation with Reilly, enter your Pip-Boy menu, navigate to the Missions section and set "Reilly's Rangers" as your active mission. This will make your compass always point in the direction of the next step in your mission.

  Follow the arrow on your compass to make your way to the Ranger Compound, defeating any enemies that get in your way with whichever method you prefer. You will likely encounter Super Mutants and Talon Company Mercenaries, so prepare for a hard fight ahead of time.

  Enter the Ranger's Compound and gather the necessary information for the quest from the radio room to the right. Explore the rest of the compound to find multiple items.

  Follow the compass and travel through the sewers to reach Vernon Square. Again you will have to contend with Super Mutants and other enemies. Once you clear the sewers you will need to travel through Freedom Street Station and fight some Ghouls and Super Ghouls to reach Vernon Square.

  Explore Vernon Square to find multiple healing items and then follow the compass to Our Lady of Hope Hospital.

  Enter the hospital and proceed to the second floor. There are several items to be collected in here, however there is also a Centaur and more Super Mutants to battle. Be careful to avoid the land mine placed at the top of the stairs on the second floor.

  Cross the walkway that leads from the second floor of the hospital to the second floor of the Statesman Hotel. Follow the compass to navigate your way through the Statesman Hotel to the roof of the hotel. You will encounter more Super Mutants and a Centaur throughout the hotel.

  Pick up the Fission Battery in the storage room that is located behind the stairs to the roof and then make your way up to the top. Talk to Ranger Donovan on the roof to give him the Fission Battery.

  Follow the Rangers back through the hotel and protect them from the Super Mutants that attack along the way. Help the Rangers to safely exit the building.

  Travel back to the Range's Compound by using Fast Travel from your Pip-Boy menu. Talk to Reilly to complete the quest and claim your reward.
