How to Get XP Points to Change Your Gamertag

Xbox Live, the online component of the Xbox 360 video game console, allows you to connect with friends to play multiplayer games, chat and download extra gaming content. When you sign up for Xbox Live, you must enter a gamertag that serves as your online ID when interfacing with other players. If you wish to change your gamertag, you can do so at the cost of 800 Microsoft Points.

Instructions

    • 1

Power on your Xbox 360 console and sign in the gamertag account that you wish to change if you do not sign in automatically.

    • 2

Navigate to the "My Xbox" blade from the main console menu and select your gamertag.

    • 3

Press the control stick right to move to the "Account Management" tab. Note your current Microsoft Point balance.

    • 4

Select "Add Microsoft Points" and purchase the appropriate amount of Microsoft Points. If you already have some Microsoft Points, you may only need to select the 400 Microsoft Points option. If not, select the 800 Microsoft Points option, which retails for $9.99.

    • 5

Return to the gamertag page and select "Change Gamertag."

    • 6

Select "Enter New Gamertag" and enter the new gamertag of your choice.

    • 7

Select "Done" to continue and confirm that you wish to spend 800 Microsoft Points to redeem a new gamertag.
