When you create an Xbox Live account for the Xbox 360, you are able to create a personalized avatar to represent yourself. An Xbox Live avatar can have its features, hairstyle and clothes customized. Many games award avatar items for completing specific tasks. Unlocking an avatar award enables you to equip your avatar with that reward. If you have unlocked an avatar reward, you can turn it on through the Xbox dashboard.

Power on the Xbox 360 and log in to your Xbox Live account.

Navigate to "Customize Avatar" in the "My Xbox" section of the dashboard, then press "A."

Highlight "Awards" in the avatar customization screen, then press "A."

Press "A" while you have the award you want to turn on selected. This will equip the award item on your avatar.
