Missing Feathers in Assassin's Creed 2

In "Assassin's Creed 2," one of the side quests is gathering missing feathers scattered across Ezio Auditore's journey for revenge in Italy. This is a departure from the first "Assassin's Creed," where feathers simply indicated completion of tasks and progress through the story. Collecting feathers in "Assassin's Creed 2" provides you with rewards that you would not have access to otherwise.
  1. The Reason

    • Ezio first begins to gather feathers at the request of his younger brother, Petruccio Auditore. Petruccio asks that Ezio bring him three feathers without explaining his reasons for wanting them. These reasons remain unknown, as Petruccio is soon killed alongside Ezio's father and older brother, sending Ezio's mother, Maria Auditore, into a state of shock. After Petruccio's death, Maria spends her days praying over the feathers that Petruccio left behind. Ezio continues to gather feathers for his mother, hoping that they will bring her peace of mind.

    Where to Find Feathers

    • Feathers can be found in nearly every location that Ezio visits on his journey. The first 27 feathers can be found in Florence, the city of Ezio's birth and where he begins his journey. In Monteriggioni, two feathers located inside the city, and two are in the lands that surround it. Tuscany has 10 feathers, and the majority of those are inside San Gimignano. There are eleven feathers in and around Forli. The last 45 feathers can be found throughout Venice, the largest city in the game.

    50 Feathers

    • When Ezio brings at least 50 feathers to Maria's room in Monteriggioni, his uncle, Mario Auditore, approaches him. Mario tries to persuade Ezio to abandon looking for feathers, saying that Maria needs to accept the fate of her son and move on. Mario then tells Ezio that he has made a new weapon called the Condottiero War Hammer available for Ezio at the Monteriggioni blacksmith. This hammer, which has incredible attack power, can be purchased for 30,600 florins.

    100 Feathers

    • After Ezio collects all 100 feathers and brings them to Maria's room, Maria thanks him. This action unlocks the "In Memory of Petruccio" achievement, worth 30 points. Maria also gives Ezio the Auditore Cape. This cape, when worn, immediately makes Ezio notorious outside of Monterggioni. Lowering Ezio's notoriety is impossible, but when he takes off the cape, Ezio's notoriety returns to where it was before putting the cape on. Wearing this cape in every city and in the Apennine Mountains unlocks the "Show Your Colors" achievement, worth 10 points.
