Start your Xbox 360 and place your "Halo: Combat Evolved" game on to the game tray. While this game was originally released for the original Xbox, it is backward compatible and will function on your Xbox 360. Close your game tray and the game will start.
Navigate the game menu. After a brief introduction and a list of parties involved in creation of the game, you will see a menu screen. Three different menu options will be on this screen. Some versions of the game may have a fourth, titled "Game Demos." Regardless, one option should be "Multiplayer." Select this option and you will be taken to another screen. In this menu, you will even more options to select. "Cooperative Play" allows two players to play the campaign normally only played by one. In the "Game Settings" menu, you can add or delete game types. You can also create custom game types and change game characteristics like the players' shield amount, weapons, and vehicles. The third option, "Split Screen," is the menu you will want to select.
Select a Slayer game type. Slayer is an umbrella term for a deathmatch. Players get points for killing enemy players. Slayer game types are available to you the instant you turn on your Xbox. Regular Slayer is the most basic and has default settings, such as normal shields and weapons, and players are on their own. The first player to rack up 25 kills, or whoever has the most kills after a time limit, wins. Team Slayer is like Regular Slayer except that players are on teams and work together to get kills and score against other teams. A number of Classic Slayer games are also available. The rules for these games vary, but generally weapons and armor changes are made. Classic Slayer game types, at their core, are extremely similar to regular Slayer. If you have created any custom Slayer types, they will appear here as well.
Start your game. You will be asked to confirm some options, such as team selection. Following these, you can start your Slayer multiplayer game.
