How to Play Need for Speed: Shift

"Need for Speed: Shift" is the 13th game in the "Need for Speed" racing series. Players take control of a variety of cars and compete in street races or free-range driving where they must escape the police officers patrolling the roads. The control scheme for "Need for Speed: Shift" on the PlayStation 3 remained the same as in the previous games in the series. If necessary, the default control scheme can be changed to match your playing style and needs.

Instructions

  Begin a new "Need for Speed: Drift" game file.

  Select a game mode to begin play.

  Press the "R2" button to accelerate the car.

  Press the "L2" button to use the brakes and move the car in reverse.

  Use the left analog stick to steer the car.

  Use the "L1" button to shift down in gear; use "R1" to shift up in gear.

  Use the "X" button to engage the emergency brake.

  Press the "Circle" button to engage a nitrous boost when equipped.

  Use the right joystick to look around your car from various directions.

  Press the "Select" button to reset your car when you are knocked off the road.

  Press the "Triangle" button to look through the rear view of your car.

  Use the "Square" button to change the point of view on or within your vehicle.
