How to Take My Gamertag Off an Xbox 360

When you sign up for Xbox LIVE you get to pick a unique gamertag that stands in for your name during games. This gamertag is associated with all your various trophies and achievements in online titles like "Halo" or "Call of Duty." If you're getting rid of your Xbox 360 or just want to remove your gamertag from the console, you can do so using the console's main menu system.

      Turn on your Xbox 360.

      Open the "System Settings" dashboard menu option.

      Open the "Memory" category. Select "All Devices" from the list of options on screen. Select "Gamer Profiles" from the list of options on screen.

      Highlight the gamertag you want to remove and select the "Delete" option. Choose "Delete Profile Only." This will remove only the gamertag from your Xbox 360 and will leave all of your various achievements in place on the console.
