The Xbox 360 video game system allows users with a user name, or "gamertag," to access and change the privacy and security settings for that account. The privacy and security settings determine the default settings for online activity on a gamertag. By changing these settings, you can permanently keep your gamertag hidden when online. This will allow you to conduct your online activity on your gamertag without anyone on your friends list knowing you are there.

Power on the Xbox 360 and log into the gamertag for which you want to access the settings.

Navigate to your avatar in the "My Xbox" section of the dashboard, then press "A."

Highlight "Change Settings" in the "Online Safety" menu tab, then press "A."

Choose "Customize" then press "A."

Change the privacy settings.

Press "B" then choose "Save and Exit" to save the changes made.
