How to Connect an Xbox 360 to a Wireless Network or Wired Router

One of the most fun things about playing video games on the Xbox 360 is that you can connect to Xbox Live and play games online with your friends. Unfortunately, the Xbox 360 does not have a built-in wireless antenna so it cannot connect to your home wireless network without buying an extra piece of equipment. However, you can connect to a wireless router directly using a wired connection.

Things You'll Need

  • Ethernet cable (for wired connection)
  • Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter (for wireless connection)

Instructions

  1. Using a Wired Connection

    • 1

Turn off your Xbox, PC and wireless router.

    • 2

Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into a free port on the back of your router.

    • 3

Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into the port on the Xbox 360.

    • 4

Turn on your modem, then your router and then your computer.

    • 5

Remove any CD from your Xbox 360 and turn it on. The Xbox 360 will now detect the network connection and load the Xbox Live area.
