How to Get Past the Trench Veterans on World at War

Released in 2008, "Call of Duty: World at War" is the fifth game in the "Call of Duty" first-person shooter franchise. In this edition, players assume control of U.S. Marines and Russian soldiers as they fight across the Pacific during World War II. The main campaign mode features a number of different difficulty options, "veteran" being the highest. In this mode, you'll have to face more enemies with better aim, while taking more enemy fire. This difficulty level makes the second mission, "Little Resistance," quite a challenge, with players fighting through Japanese defenses in the trenches.

Instructions

    • 1

Call in a rocket strike on the tree line ahead as soon as you begin the level. Once it subsides, run South-Southwest toward the shore.

    • 2

Wait for your fellow soldier ahead to use his flame thrower on the bunker, then enter the trenches. Move forward to the next group of enemy soldiers, staying low so you don't expose yourself. You will soon find an enemy operating a machine gun from a protected bunker.

    • 3

Call in a rocket strike on the bunker and take down as many fleeing enemies you can.

    • 4

Run east to the next series of trenches. Wait for the friendly tank to roll by, then grab the M1897 trench gun from the wall in front of you.

    • 5

Crouch and move through the trench with your M1897 at the ready. At every corner, lean out slightly to draw enemy fire and reveal their positions, then pop out to return fire, alternating between firing and taking cover.

    • 6

Make your way through the trenches heading Southeast. At the end of the trench, you will be attacked by a bonzai enemy running straight toward you. Use your gunsight and trudge slowly out to trigger him, then take him down as soon as he appears. You will now be clear of the trenches.
