How to Back Up Gamertag to a USB

Microsoft's Xbox and Xbox 360 game consoles use gamertags to identify players' profiles. You have to create a gamertag to use the games that go online with Xbox LIVE.You can back up your Xbox LIVE gamertag using a USB flash drive. Backing up your gamertag allows you to use it on another Xbox or Xbox 360 console.

Instructions

  1. Save gamertag to USB

      Plug the USB flash drive into the console.

      Go to My Xbox and use the A button to select System Settings>Memory>All Devices.

      Choose "Gamer Profiles" and highlight your profile, then press the A button to select.

      Select "Move" and then highlight your USB drive from the list. Press A. Your profile is now saved to the USB drive and you can plug it into another console to use your gamertag.
