Easy Ways to Rank Up in Halo: Reach

"Halo: Reach" is the sixth Halo game released by Bungie for the Xbox 360. One of the biggest changes to the Halo series is a completely revamped experience system based on earning credits. The ranking system starts at Recruit with zero credits, and stops at Inheritor with 20 million credits. Credits are earned for virtually anything that a player does in-game. You can employ several different methods to maximize the amount of credits you earn.
  1. Banshee Sweep

    • Killing vehicles earns far more credits than killing infantry. You can take advantage of this by playing the level "Long Night of Solace: Rally Point Alpha" on Heroic, with all gold skulls active except Iron. The mission will start with a wave of 12 Banshees. Kill 10 of the Banshees then pause the game. Select "Revert to Last Save" in the pause menu. You keep all the credits you earned by destroying the ships and spawn 12 more Banshees. You can repeat this as many times as you want to. This process is repetitive and can become boring, but earns 10 times more credits than killing infantry.

    Credit Farming

    • You earn credits for playing in a game, even if you don't kill one enemy. By starting a game and walking off your character will make credits. You're not going to earn many credits by using this method, but you can earn credits even while sleeping. Multiplayer games will eventually boot you from the game when it detects that your controller is turned off due to inactivity. However, by playing a custom game, and setting your Spartan to be invulnerable, the game will last indefinitely.

    Commendations

    • Commendations are rewards for completing difficult tasks in Halo Reach. Each time you accomplish a commendation you are rewarded extra credits for your performance. There are 260,000 possible credits you can earn through completing commendations. For a complete list of all of the commendations click on the "Commendation List" link in the Resource section of this article.

    Daily and Weekly Challenges

    • "Halo: Reach" offers bonus credits for completing daily and weekly challenges. The challenges require you to play certain levels, use specific weapons and even sometimes a combination of them both. You can check what the current challenges are by hitting the "Start" button in the main menu, then scrolling down to "Challenges" and pressing the "A" button. The extra credits average around 3000 a day, which may not seem like much, but multiply that by seven days a week and it will start to add up.
