How to Fix Error E64

The original Xbox 360 video gaming console is prone to suffer from a number of technical issues. When the console detects a problem, the LED lights on the front of the unit will flash red when you turn it on and an error code will be displayed on the screen. If your Xbox 360 flashes one red light, you may see an E64 error code, which signals a fault with the DVD drive. Although this can sometimes be fixed by rebooting the system, you may need to return your Xbox 360 to Microsoft's Repair Center.

Instructions

  1. Reboot Xbox 360

    • 1

Turn off the console and unplug the power cord from the back of the unit.

    • 2

Remove the plug from the wall socket and disconnect the power supply unit from the power cord.

    • 3

Reassemble the power supply unit and the power cord and insert the plug into the wall socket.

    • 4

Connect the power cord to the console and turn it on.

    Return to Microsoft

    • 5

Click the "Start" button on your computer taskbar and open the Internet browser.

    • 6

Navigate to the "Xbox Online Service Center" (see Resources) and click "Start a repair request."

    • 7

Enter the required information into the repair request form and click the "Submit" button to complete the process. You will receive an email confirming your request and, if eligible, you will be sent an empty parcel in the mail.

    • 8

Put your Xbox 360 in the parcel and return it to the supplied address.
