Kill the Cave Trolls that appear in chapters three, four and five of the game for a chance to find the scroll of Dark Metamorphosis, an ability that will heal Alucard when he damages an enemy in close range. The ability will become stronger each time you find the scroll.
Kill Ectoplasm, a normal enemy found in chapters two, four, five and six, for a chance to find the scroll of Summon Spirit. This is an ability that will summon a spirit to follow enemies, dealing damage to them on contact. Find the scroll more times to increase the damage done by the spirits.
Sell unusable or poor quality equipment at the store to save up and buy better equipment. Early on, the gear at the store will often be more powerful than what you can find, so it is a good idea to buy gear and then slowly transition into finding rarer, more powerful items from boss drops. Stores can be accessed before the start of each chapter.
Find and equip two of the Yasutsuna swords by killing the final bosses in chapters four, five and six on hard difficulty. The swords also has a chance to drop from rare treasure chests in chapters five and six. The Yasutsuna is not as powerful as the Valmanway, but is far more common and easier to obtain. Play online with teammates if you have difficulty defeating bosses while solo.
Find the Berserker Armor by defeating the boss in chapter five on hard difficulty. This armor is unique in that it actually makes you take 50 percent more damage but also makes you deal 50 percent more damage to enemies. Combine this with the Yasutsuna swords and Alucard will be able to kill most enemies before they can attack.
