Watch the Scarecrow as his gaze moves around the screen. His eyes act like lanterns, casting a light beam wherever he is looking. You must avoid this light beam to escape the level since you'll be killed the second the Scarecrow sees you.
Advance to the right of the screen when the Scarecrow isn't looking at you. Each Scarecrow level functions as a large circle, with you circling to the right until you reach the exit.
Hide behind a wall or barrier whenever the Scarecrow starts to look back in your direction. He is usually predictable in his movements so you can time when to run and move without being seen.
Activate Detective Mode to reveal weakened walls and movable objects whenever your progress is blocked. Some levels require you to blow up walls with explosive gel, while others have you use the grappling hook to move blocks where you need them so you can get to the right of the screen. Hide as soon as you blow up a wall since the noise will draw the Scarecrow's gaze.
Fight any enemies that appear as you advance around the level. Time your attacks so they occur when the Scarecrow is looking away so he won't notice you.
Climb up to the spotlight at the end of the level, which often requires the use of a grappling hook to reach it. Once you get to the spotlight, Batman will aim it toward the Scarecrow, destroying him temporarily and bringing you back into reality in Arkham Asylum to continue the game.
