How to Set up a Data Transfer Cable From a Computer to an Xbox 360

The hard drive on your Xbox 360 holds up to 120 gigabytes of info depending on the model you purchase. It holds your games, downloaded online content, profiles, saves, music and more. If you need to back up your files to your computer, or have files on your computer -- like movies -- that you want to transfer to your Xbox 360, you'll need to setup a data transfer cable.

      Unplug the Xbox 360 hard drive from the Xbox console. This is done by gripping and pulling the gray unit off the side of the console.

      Plug the non-USB side of the data transfer cable into the hard drive interface, followed by plugging the USB end of the cable into your computer. The hard drive is now attached to the computer.

      Insert the data transfer cable CD-ROM into the computer to install the XPort 360. Follow the installation wizard to complete the install. You are now setup to complete transfers to and from your Xbox 360.
