The Red Ring of Death
One of the most common repair issues for the Xbox 360 is an overheating issue commonly referred to as the red ring of death. This issue occurs when the console has overheated and the system will not boot up. A popular trick for this problem is to wrap the console in a blanket, turn the console on, and leave it for one to two hours. Then, unwrap it and try to boot it up again.
Xbox 360 Locks Up
The Xbox 360 has a history of problems with locking up -- a signal the inside of your console requires cleaning. Open your console by removing the outer case to access the motherboard and components. Using a spray can of compressed air, clear any debris or dust from the components and fans inside the console so air flows through the machine.
Dirty Disc Error
Dirty disc error is one of the most dreaded messages received on an Xbox 360. This error reveals potential problems with the DVD drive, possibly requiring repairs or replacement. The first step in repair is to use an industry-standard DVD cleaner disc in the drive. If this does not work, you may need to replace the laser in the drive.
Power Supply Failure
Power supply failure with the Xbox 360 is usually follows a popping sound immediately after powering on. The power supply can be saved by opening it and removing the cover. Inside, find the blown fuse or fuses that have rendered the power supply useless. It may be better to completely replace the power supply or you may continue to have blown fuses.
