How to Use an iPod Nano 5th Generation on an Xbox 360

Apple iPod Nano is a portable music player that can be connected to the Xbox 360 via a USB cable. The Xbox 360 will automatically connect to the iPod Nano and you can play music, watch videos, and look at photos from the device using the console's main menu or "dashboard." To play music encoded in Apple's AAC format, you will need to download an optional media update once.

      Connect your iPod Nano's USB cable to the iPod and plug the other end of the cable into a free USB port on the front or back of the Xbox. Turn on the console and sign in to your Xbox Live profile by pressing the gray center button on your controller, then pressing "X," selecting a profile with the left analog stick, and pressing "A" to confirm your choice.

      Select "Game Marketplace" in the Xbox 360 dashboard and press "A." Select the letter "O" from the alphabetical list then select "Optional Media Update" and press "A" again. Do not shut down the Xbox 360 while the media update is being installed.

      Restart the Xbox 360 and select "Music" from the dashboard. Select "Portable Device" and press "A" to open a list of available music files to play. Press "B" to return to the dashboard and select "Videos" or "Photos" if you wish to watch a movie file or browse photos from your iPod.
