How to Create a Player for a Franchise in Madden 11

Madden NFL 11 includes nearly every NFL player and free agent, but avid football fans may remember players from years past that no longer appear in the game. With Madden's "Create-A-Player" tool, you can customize new characters for anyone you want to see dress in your favorite team's uniform, from old favorite players to celebrities or friends. Using custom rosters, you can import your created characters into a Madden franchise and use them to lead your team to the Super Bowl.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Open a roster spot on your favorite team by dropping an existing player. Select "My Madden" from the game's main menu. From there, choose "NFL Rosters" and select "Player Management" from the next menu. Choose a team by scrolling until you find your preferred team. Scroll down the roster until you find a player you want to cut. Highlight the player and press "A" to select him, and then choose "Release Player." Return to the main menu.

    • 2

Access the "Creation Zone" to make your player. From the main menu, select "My Madden" followed by "Creation Zone" and "Create Player."

    • 3

Customize your player information. The first screen allows you to select your player's personal information such as his name, number, position and birth year. This is also where you select your player's team. If you didn't clear a roster spot on your desired team, you won't be able to add the player.

    • 4

Edit your player's physical appearance. Under the second creation tab, you can customize your player's features, including height, weight, skin tone and body dimensions. The dimensions you can customize include height, weight, upper and lower body dimensions and foot size. Use the sliders for each option to set your character's appearance, with the farther left on the slider indicating a smaller feature and farther on the right indicating a larger feature.

    • 5

Choose the stance and style for quarterbacks. The third set of options includes only QB Stance and Stance Style, so you can skip this step if your player is not a quarterback. This option allows you to select a style and stance similar to existing NFL quarterbacks, so you can choose any style from a current pro QB.

    • 6

Select your player's equipment. The fourth tab's options allow you to customize all your player's gear, including helmet, face paint, shoes and various types of pads.

    • 7

Adjust your player's statistics. The fifth tab contains sliders that give you complete control over your player's rating. Note that Madden does not limit how many skill points you can assign, so you're free to create either a balanced player or a superstar. Looking at existing players' stat lines can give you an idea of which statistics are important to your player's position and how to make your player's statistics realistic.

    • 8

Accept your custom player by pressing "Start." A menu will appear asking you to save your custom roster to add your player. Choose "Save player" from the menu, and then save your roster under an identifiable name.

    • 9

Load your custom roster. Return to the "My Madden" menu, select "File Management" and then choose "Load-Delete." Scroll down to "Roster," and select your custom roster from the menu at the right. When you enter "Franchise Mode," your player should appear on the team roster that you placed him on.
