My Windows Media Center Is Streaming Slow on XBox

The Xbox 360 game console connects to Windows Media Center on your personal computer and links to the Internet. When configured to access your computer's Internet connection, watch television shows, play music or listen to Internet radio stations right from the Xbox 360. During content streaming or television watching, you may notice a lag in the overall speed of video, often due to improper bandwidth settings for your home network. The bandwidth determines the rate at which your Internet streams content and can produce choppy or pixilated videos if the bandwidth is set too low.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the Windows orb on the desktop menu, and click "All Programs" and "Windows Media Center."

    • 2

Press the down arrow on your Windows Media Center remote control until "Task" is highlighted, and select "Settings" and "Extender." Alternately, press the down arrow on your keyboard to scroll through the Windows Media Center's options.

    • 3

Highlight "Xbox 360" as the extender for Windows Media Center, and click "Tuner Network." The network tuner tests the network connection, and displays possible tweaks to improve the bandwidth.

Insert the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the Xbox 360, and insert the other end of the Ethernet cable into your router's Ethernet port. A wired connection improves speed and performance of video playback. This allows a direct connection through the router to the Internet.
