What Are the Yellow Jump Circles for in Final Fantasy?

"Final Fantasy XIII" was created by Square Enix and released in 2010. This role-playing game was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Players take control of multiple characters as they complete a quest across the four-disc set. A number of secrets can be found while playing, such as the ability to use the yellow jump circles that appear throughout the game.
  1. Yellow Jump Circles

    • The yellow jump markers are in various places throughout the Archylte Steppe. These markers are used to designate areas that include a long jump. These jumps can be used to access different areas of the map. However, the characters of the game cannot reach these areas under their own power. To use the yellow jump circles you must first find a Chocobo. These birds appear in every game of the "Final Fantasy" series. Players use them to reach new heights in "Final Fantasy XIII."

    Finding Chocobos

    • Chocobos are not available in the game until you complete specific missions. You must first defeat the monsters that are linked to mission numbers 12 and 14. You will then gain access to the Gysahl Reins. Venturing to this area will cause a special cut scene that reveals the locations of the large birds. From this point on, you will notice that Chocobos are scattered in various locations throughout the Archylte Steppe. If you approach one and press the "A" button, you will mount the bird. When riding the Chocobos you must avoid all enemies because running into too many will cause the bird to flee. You can dismount at any time by pressing the "B" button.

    Treasure Hunting with Chocobos

    • As you ride a Chocobo throughout the Archylte Steppe, you may notice a distinct beeping noise, which means you are nearing a buried treasure that only the Chocobo can uncover. As you near the marking point, an exclamation point will appear above the bird's head. The faster the circle bounces, the closer you are to finding the treasure. Look for the prompt that lets you know where to dig. The available treasure varies by position, and some respawn after you find them.

    Additional Secrets

    • "Final Fantasy XIII" has a long list of secrets that require a keen eye to uncover. Many of these hidden aspects do not become available until you have completed the main quest. For example, the mark missions are challenges that will pit you against the toughest enemies in the game. To defeat them you will need to develop your characters to the highest point available. Approach the floating statues that you find throughout the world to accept their corresponding challenges. When you find and slay the monster, another statue will appear. Complete them all to reach the toughest bosses in the game. As you reach the tougher enemies they will reward you with special items that you cannot find otherwise.
