How to Operate a Wireless Controller for the Xbox 360

      Insert two AA batteries or a rechargeable battery pack. Press down the tab on the back of the controller to open the battery compartment and insert the batteries according to the diagram found there.

      Turn on the controller by pressing the large guide button in the center. Press the power button of the Xbox 360 console to turn it on.

      Synchronize the controller with the console. Press the sync button on the console (located near the memory unit slots) followed by the sync button on top of the controller. The ring of light encircling the guide button will flash before settling into the upper left quadrant to indicate the first controller position.

      Use the buttons on the controller for various functions. In general, use the left joystick to navigate menus, the "A" button to accept and the "B" button to cancel. Buttons have many different functions when playing games. Consult your game's instructional manual for proper operation.
