How to Go Wireless With An XBox 360

Microsoft includes wired and wireless network connection options for its Xbox 360 gaming system. New Xbox 360s come with built-in Wi-Fi support, allowing you to go wireless right out of the box. This can save the hassle and clutter of lengthy Ethernet cables winding through your living room, connecting the console to your home's router or modem. Access the Xbox 360's wireless settings in the console's dashboard menu to begin setting up your wireless connection.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the disc ejection button on the front of the console to power on the Xbox 360. The disc opens and the console boots to the dashboard. Remove a game from the disc tray if necessary and close the tray.

    • 2

      Scroll up to "My Xbox."

    • 3

Scroll right in the "My Xbox" section until you come to "System Settings." Open "System Settings."

    • 4

Go to "Network Settings." The console scans for wireless connections.

    • 5

Highlight your wireless connection on the Xbox 360's wireless results list and press "A." The console prompts for the network's password and an on-screen keyboard pops up.

    • 6

Type the wireless network's password using the Xbox 360's on-screen keyboard. Push "Start" when finished entering the password. The console connects to Xbox Live.
