How to Hear Game Noise From the Xbox 360 With a Headset

Both Xbox 360 and 3rd-party headsets are designed to allow gamers to communicate with friends and family over Xbox Live. Along with communications, the headset allows you to hear game sounds from your Xbox, creating a different experience for the gamer. If these game sounds do not register, it detracts from the experience of the game. In order to establish the game sound, players may have to reconfigure their settings on the Xbox.

Instructions

    • 1

Examine the headset. Ensure no dirt or debris is found on the headset port or connector. Ensure the controller itself is working and has a full battery charge, as this may be the reason why the headset is not working.

    • 2

Press the Xbox guide button located on the controller. Scroll right and select "Settings." Select "Preferences" and select "Voice." Select the "Mute" option and ensure it is set to "Off."

    • 3

Select the "Volume" option. Use the D-pad or left stick to increase the volume. Since the headsets automatically create game noise in the ear, the volume option may be the main cause for why you are unable to hear any noise.
