Viva Pinata Hints

"Viva Pinata" for the Xbox 360 allows players to attract and interact with more than 60 different pinata species. You can fully customize your "Viva Pinata" gardens with flowers, trees and decorations, all of which entice different pinata species to take up residence. Your garden can quickly become a busy place, so create a gardening strategy and focus on a few pinata species at a time.
  1. Romancing Requirements

    • Two pinatas of the same species will produce offspring through romancing. Each species needs a house in which to romance and has requirements that must be met each time you breed them. After you've romanced your first pair, however, you can buy romance candy from Costalot's Shop and use that in place of the romance requirements for that species.

    Romance Minigames

    • Romancing also includes a minigame in which you navigate one pinata through a maze toward its mate. These mazes become more difficult when more pinatas of that species are present in your garden. When romancing is successful, an egg appears next to the romance house, but this isn't considered a full-fledged pinata yet. Romance the parent pinatas again before the egg hatches to encounter the maze on the same difficulty level as your previous romancing.

    Master Romancer Awards

    • You earn a master romancer award for having seven of a particular pinata species in your garden. These awards increase your gardening level and are needed to get some of the achievements in "Viva Pinata." Pinatas that you buy from the shop or receive as gifts from your friends, as well as ones that visit on their own and are the product of romancing, count toward the award. All seven pinatas must be present in your garden at the same time, so protect these pinatas from predators and don't sell any until you receive the award.

    Fighting

    • Some pinata species don't get along, and an overcrowded garden can lead to fights. In some cases, you can break up a fight by hitting the combatants with your shovel, spraying them with your watering can or feeding them happiness candy, but the pinatas can still injure one another before you're able to get to them. A better way to keep your garden under control is to limit your garden to three to six species of pinatas at a time. Sell or bash other pinatas that enter your garden. Once you've achieved a master romancer award for one species, you can sell them off -- or feed them to another species -- and make room for other types of pinatas.

    Strategy

    • Just like in the wild, some pinatas are the natural prey of larger, stronger species. Syrupents have to eat lickatoads in order to romance, so it make sense to work on your syrupent master romancer award right after you achieve this award for lickatoads. Examine the resident and romance requirements for each new species that visits your garden to find the connections between species and plan your gardening strategy.
