Spider-Man
The classic red suited Spider-Man is available immediately. In his normal mode, Spider-Man can swing from webs or use them to snare enemies, bash criminals with the proportionate strength of a spider and stick to the surface of buildings. Spider-Man can also pull off special attacks that utilize his superhuman speed, strength and webbing to take down multiple foes at once. Spider-Man also comes equipped with his spider sense, which warns him of oncoming attacks and directs his movements around the game map.
Symbiote Spider-Man
The black Spider-Man outfit increases Spider-Man's strength. When Spider-Man is attacked in his black suit, he builds up a rage meter that can unleash special attacks, like using his webbing as a hammer. The black Spider-Man suit is only available at certain points during the first round of play. Beat Venom in the final level and the black suit will be unlocked on every story mode level.
New Goblin
Spider-Man's friend Harry Osborne becomes New Goblin in "Spider-Man 3." To play as New Goblin, you must have the Collector's Edition or purchase the downloadable content from X-Box Live. The New Goblin is unlocked as a playable character only after he is defeated in story mode. New Goblin has a completely different move set from Spider-Man. The character rides a flying "Goblin Glider" and throws pumpkin bombs.
Peter Parker
Peter is Spider-Man's normal alter ego. Although Peter has the same abilities as he does when he's wearing his regular Spider-Man suit, you will not be able to use them all without Peter revealing his secret identity. Peter is available in a few areas, such as the Daily Bugle offices or as part of the tutorial level with Mary Jane. Peter is limited to web-swinging and punching, but you will likely just use the web-swinging to get from one area to another.
