How to Jump Higher in Modern Warfare 2

In 2009, Activision released "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2," the sixth installment in its best-selling "Call of Duty" line of first-person shooters. This game's multiplayer component let players from around the world play simulated war games against one another. Gamers could set up their onscreen characters to possess certain characteristics called "perks," fire a variety of weapons and select from a list of "killstreak" rewards that gave bonuses for multiple kills in a row. Some of these perks, when combined with a certain killstreak, enabled players to jump higher on the maps.

Instructions

  1. Character Creation

    • 1

Press "Start" or click any button on your controller after loading MW2. Highlight and click on the "Multiplayer" icon. Highlight and click "Play Online" (for PlayStation 3) or "Xbox Live" (for Xbox 360) to log onto the PlayStation Network or Xbox Live, respectively.

    • 2

Highlight and click on the "Create a Class" section of the multiplayer game. Highlight and click on a character you want to modify.

    • 3

Equip "Marathon" as your Tier 1 perk and "Lightweight" as your Tier 2 perk. In the game, "Marathon" gives unlimited sprint and "Lightweight" increases your character's movement speed.

    • 4

Return to the Multiplayer menu and highlight and click "Callsign &Killstreaks." Click "Killstreak Rewards," then set one of your three killstreaks to "Care Package."

    • 5

Return to the Multiplayer menu, highlight and click "Find Match," then highlight and click any game type (such as "Free for All") to enter a multiplayer game.

    Strafe Jumping

    • 6

Kill four enemy players in a row to activate the "Care Package" kill streak. The game will give you a red smoke grenade to mark a location for a helicopter to drop the care package.

    • 7

Press the left directional arrow on your controller's directional pad to swap out your gun for the red smoke grenade. Your character can run faster while holding the smoke grenade instead of traditional weapons, which are heavier.

    • 8

Approach the ledge, boxes or platform onto which you want to jump. A running strafe jump will help you get onto the wing of the plane in Terminal, for example.

    • 9

Move back from the ledge, boxes or platform enough so you can get a running start. Set your character at an angle diagonal to the surface onto which you want to jump.

    • 10

Execute a running strafe jump by pressing in the left controller stick and tilting the left controller stick in the diagonal direction toward the surface. Press the jump button after your character begins running and you approach the surface.
