Lumi
The 2010 grand prize winner of the Dream.Build.Play Challenge, "Lumi" is a 2-D platform/action/puzzle game featuring a small, yellow, vaguely rabbit-like creature attempting to rebuild its lush world. Gameplay is based around Lumi's magnetic and light powers, allowing players to illuminate the environment and slide quickly across different currents to escape enemies.
A.R.E.S.
A "Metroid"-like side-scrolling adventure/shooter game set in the distant future, "A.R.E.S." follows a prototype robot battling hordes of haywire robots. Exploring through the mechanical environment allows Ares to collect power-ups, rescue hostages and blow up a lot of robots. In 2010, "A.R.E.S." won first prize in the Dream.Build.Play Competition.
Prismatic Solid
The second prize winner in 2010 is a forced rail, top-down space ship shooter called "Prismatic Solid." "Prismatic Solid" features a stylish design built around simple geometric structures, including three arms which extend and rearrange to protect the player's ship, and numerous bright enemies and obstacles to navigate through and around.
Beat Hazard
Like "Prismatic Solid," "Beat Hazard" is also a spaceship shooter. In this case the ship moves around within a fixed space as enemies enter the screen. Levels are dictated by the music played during the game, allowing players to import their own tracks, with more intense songs giving the player more powerful weapons. The game creates a different level for every song played.
Dust: An Elysian Tail
Although not one of the 2010 Dream.Build.Play winners, "Dust: An Elysian Tail" is (as of March 2011) considered one of the most graphically beautiful games ever created using the XNA system. Based on the animated film "Elysian Tail," "Dust" is a 2-D platform/adventure game allowing players to run through a gorgeously rendered world full of magic and anthropomorphic cats.
