Update Firmware on Xbox Live
Power on the Xbox 360 console, and log on to Xbox Live.
Navigate to "My Xbox," and click "System Settings."
Click "Network Settings," and choose "Wired Network." Alternatively, click the name of your wireless network connection in the list.
Click the "Test Xbox Live Connection" link.
Click "Yes" to update the Xbox 360 console firmware when prompted to do so.
Restart the console when prompted to do so.
Update the Firmware with a USB Flash Drive
Navigate to the Xbox 360 website, and download the latest firmware revision (see Resources).
Connect the USB flash drive to your computer. Wait for Windows to detect and configure the drive for use on your computer.
Click "Start," and choose "Computer."
Browse to the folder where you saved the Xbox firmware update, right-click the file and select "Copy" on the pop-up menu.
Browse to the drive folder for the USB flash drive, and open the drive folder.
Right-click in the folder window, and click "Paste" on the pop-up menu.
Wait while Windows copies the updated firmware file to the USB flash drive.
Remove the USB flash drive from the computer when done copying.
Insert the USB flash drive into an empty port on the Xbox 360 console. If the console is on, turn it off and then back on again.
Wait for the Xbox 360 to boot and load the firmware update menu.
Click "Yes" when prompted to do so to update the firmware software on the console.
Reboot when prompted to do so.
Update Firmware with a CD or DVD
Download the firmware revision update from the Xbox 360 website.
Burn the firmware update file to a blank CD or DVD.
Insert the burned disc into the DVD drive of the Xbox 360 console.
Power on the Xbox 360.
Wait for the firmware menu to appear, and click "Yes" to update the console.
Restart the Xbox 360 when prompted to do so.
