How to Get Two Flashing Lights After Performing an X-Clamp Fix

Xbox 360 consoles are prone to over-heating and often display three red lights on the front of the system to indicate a malfunction from heat stress. These three red lights are fixed by performing an "X-Clamp" repair inside the console. This repair removes bulky metal clamps that exacerbate the internal heat stress. To complete the X-clamp repair, you must temporarily over-heat the console to reset the red light error. You can get two flashing lights and reset the Xbox 360 after an X-clamp fix in 10 minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the case of the console and locate the system's internal fan. The fan is connected to the motherboard by a power cord. Unplug the power cord from the motherboard.

    • 2

Turn on the system and let it run for three to five minutes. The fan will not run and the heat inside the console will rise rapidly. This will cause the system to automatically shut down to prevent damage and reset the red light error on the front of the machine from 3 lights to 2.

    • 3

When the console displays two red lights instead of 3, turn off the machine immediately and reconnect the internal fan power cord to the motherboard. Allow the system to cool for at least 30 minutes before turning it on again. The console will be fully repaired when your power it on again.
