How to Make a 1 Flag CTF Map in Halo: Reach

"Halo: Reach" is a first-person shooter game for Xbox 360 that can also be played on Xbox Live. One of the appeals of the game is the ability of players to make maps and create game types easily. One type of scenario is a capture-the-flag (CTF) map. This can be made with either one flag or two. When playing the one-flag variant, one team defends the flag and the other tries to capture it. The teams are divided into blue and red, and the map-maker determines which team will do which task.

Instructions

  Go into Forge mode, and choose an area where you want to make a map. When making your own map, you typically go to the Forge World variants. Bungie has uploaded several variants of maps. Or, you can go to the standard Forge World.

  Go into monitor mode by pressing up on the cross-shaped D-pad.

  Select "objectives." Go to the flag stand, and press "A." Take the flag stand, and place it wherever you want. You will also need a capture plate. Place that a fair distance away from the flag.

  Place terrain, such as bases, buildings, walls and obstacles to hinder the path to and from the flag and capture plate.

  Place spawn and respawn points. Press "B" until you are back to the main screen of the building options. Scroll down, and click "spawning." Place four initial spawn points, locating those for the defending team near the flag, and those for the capturing team near the capture plate. The spawn plates start out white, which means anyone can spawn on them. Change the color of the spawn points so only one team can spawn in each location. To change the color, hover the crosshairs over the item, and select it. Press "X."

  Place various weapons around the map, so players can access something other than the assault rifle and magnum. Place more common weapons, like the Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR) and shotgun, in easily accessible places. Place more powerful weapons, like the sniper rifle, energy sword and rocket launcher, in harder-to-reach places.

  Save the map variant. Invite your friends on Xbox Live to play your new CTF Map. You can also upload it to your fileshare so other people who have played on your map can recommend it, and eventually it can be recognized by other players.
