How to Make Characters or Avatars for Kids

Creating an Xbox 360 Avatar for or with kids is a creative experience for both adults and children. The Avatar characters are completely customizable, so your kids can recreate their everyday selves, or something outside of the norm, such as an astronaut, zombie or ninja. Once an Avatar has been made, it will symbolize your child in a variety of Xbox 360 games including "Kinect Sports" and "Kinect Joy Ride." Kids are sure to have more fun building an Avatar with some help from someone who knows the ropes of Avatar customization.

     Select "Change my Features" to alter the physical look of the kid's Avatar. Have the child suggest features like hairstyles, body size and a nose.

     Choose "Change my Style" to pick from a large selection of clothing and props for the Avatar to wear and play with. Clothing such as dark purple jeans, flip flops and flame beanie are among the dozens of preinstalled clothing options. Props are items that the Avatar uses on the Xbox dashboard menu, and they give the Avatar more personality.

     Browse the "Marketplace" for Avatar items to download to create a truly unique character. The Stegosaurus pet, Kraken and Alien Costume some examples of child-friendly content to download here.

     Press "Save and Exit" when you are finished creating the child's Avatar. If you forget to save, you will have to restart the entire process.
