How to Find a Xbox 360 Jasper Elite

Prior to the release of the Xbox 360 Slim, the Xbox 360 console was notoriously known for having severe heat-related problems. This resulted in the infamous red ring of death (RROD) plaguing across all versions of the platform. Finally, Microsoft released a revision using a chip they called "Jasper" to address and resolve the oven-like temperatures. If you prefer the look of the classic Xbox 360 Elite, you ensure the Elite version is a Jasper chip prior to purchasing. Confirming if the console is using a Jasper chip is as simple as looking at the sticker on the back of the console.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the bar code sticker on the back of the Xbox 360. If the console is still in the retail box, you can see the sticker by peering through the rectangular opening on the back of the box.

    • 2

Find the words "Made in China" located just to the left of the serial number.

    • 3

Look right above the "Made in China" text for the amperage information. If the amperage information reads "12.1 A," it contains a Jasper chip.
